A native Detroiter, Carla moved to Los Angeles after being accepted into the Graduate Screenwriting Program at the University of Southern California.  She has written and produced over a dozen television shows including That’s So Raven, Half & Half, Hit The Floor and Good Girls.  

 

She was the showrunner on her own comedy series, One Love, starring Mark Curry, Sheryl Lee Ralph, and the late Sherman Hemsley. It debuted on Bounce TV in April 2014, reaching more than 1 million viewers, making it the network's most watched original series ever.  

 

Looking to mentor other writers and share her craft, she also taught at Northwestern University (her alma mater) as a lecturer in the Radio Television Film Department. She is currently an Executive Producer on Bel-Air for Peacock and developing television projects through her overall deal at Universal Television. She founded Babycakes Productions, Inc. as a vehicle for her creative projects.  She resides in Los Angeles with her husband, two children and a Goldendoodle.
